PPIs are medicines that treat ulcers and acid-related problems by suppressing the stomach\u2019s acid pumps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Uses <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD):<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Treatment of <strong>erosive reflux oesophagitis<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Long-term management<\/strong> after healing to prevent relapse.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Symptomatic treatment<\/strong> of GORD in patients without oesophagitis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Prevention of ulcers<\/strong> associated with ongoing <strong>NSAID<\/strong> (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) therapy in at-risk patients.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eradication of <em>Helicobacter pylori<\/em><\/strong> infection <strong>with appropriate antibiotics<\/strong> to:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heal <em>H. pylori<\/em>-associated <strong>duodenal ulcer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prevent <strong>relapse<\/strong> of ulcers in patients with <em>H. pylori<\/em>-associated ulcer disease.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hypersecretory conditions<\/strong> such as <strong>Zollinger\u2013Ellison syndrome<\/strong> (excess acid due to hormone-producing tumours).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_it_works\"><\/span>How it works <span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your stomach contains tiny \u201cpumps\u201d that release acid to help digest food. In some conditions, too much acid is produced or acid flows back into the food pipe, causing pain and damage. <strong>Esomeprazole<\/strong> switches off many of these pumps by blocking the final step of acid production. With less acid, <strong>irritation, inflammation and ulcers can heal<\/strong>, and symptoms like heartburn usually improve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_should_NOT_use_this_medicine\"><\/span>Who should NOT use this medicine<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Do not take TRUSTAN if:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You are <strong>allergic<\/strong> to <strong>esomeprazole<\/strong>, to <strong>any other proton pump inhibitors<\/strong>, or to <strong>any ingredients<\/strong> in TRUSTAN.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are taking <strong>HIV medicines<\/strong> <strong>atazanavir<\/strong> or <strong>nelfinavir<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before use if any of the following apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You have <strong>unexplained weight loss<\/strong>, <strong>vomit blood<\/strong> or food, <strong>pass black\/bloody stools<\/strong>, or develop <strong>new or worsening <a href=\"https:\/\/rxzest.com\/fexo-uses-side-effects-warnings-precautions\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/rxzest.com\/fexo-uses-side-effects-warnings-precautions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stomach pain<\/a>\/indigestion<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have or have had <strong>severe liver problems<\/strong> (a lower dose may be needed).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have <strong>severe kidney problems<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You develop <strong>severe, persistent diarrhoea<\/strong> (possible <em>Clostridium difficile<\/em>\u2013associated diarrhoea).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are scheduled for a <strong>Chromogranin A<\/strong> blood test.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have <strong>osteoporosis<\/strong> or use <strong>corticosteroids<\/strong> (long-term PPI use may slightly raise fracture risk of <strong>hip, wrist, or spine<\/strong>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You notice a <strong>rash in sun-exposed areas<\/strong> or <strong>joint pain<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have risk factors for <strong>vitamin B12 deficiency<\/strong>; acid suppression can reduce B12 absorption over time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will be on TRUSTAN for <strong>more than three months<\/strong> (your doctor may check <strong>magnesium<\/strong> levels; low magnesium may cause fatigue, muscle cramps, confusion, seizures, dizziness, fast heartbeat and can also lower potassium or calcium).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Children<\/strong><br>There is <strong>no experience<\/strong> with TRUSTAN in <strong>children under 12 years<\/strong>; it is <strong>not recommended<\/strong> for this age group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Warnings_and_precautions_Read_before_use\"><\/span>Warnings and precautions (Read before use)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Kidneys:<\/strong> TRUSTAN can rarely cause <strong>tubulointerstitial nephritis<\/strong> (kidney inflammation).
