In plain terms, it <strong>slows or stops the virus from multiplying<\/strong>, so the infection settles faster and symptoms improve. It does <strong>not<\/strong> eliminate the virus from your body, and outbreaks may still happen in the future, but treatment can shorten the course and reduce severity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_should_NOT_use_this_medicine\"><\/span>Who should NOT use this medicine<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do <strong>not<\/strong> take ADCO ACYCLOVIR 200 mg tablets if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You are <strong>allergic<\/strong> (hypersensitive) to <strong>acyclovir<\/strong>, <strong>valaciclovir<\/strong>, or any of the other ingredients in the tablet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are <strong>pregnant<\/strong> or <strong>breastfeeding<\/strong> your baby.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Important:<\/strong> This leaflet lists pregnancy and breastfeeding under \u201cDo not take\u201d. If affected, <strong>do not drive<\/strong> or operate machinery.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sugar intolerance:<\/strong> Each tablet contains <strong>lactose<\/strong>. mg<\/strong><strong>12-hourly<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Some patients may experience <strong>breakthrough infections<\/strong> on a total of <strong>800 mg daily<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your doctor may <strong>interrupt therapy every 6\u201312 months<\/strong> to reassess your pattern of disease.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Prevention (prophylaxis) of herpes simplex in immunocompromised patients:<\/strong><br><strong>200 mg<\/strong><strong>four times daily<\/strong> at <strong>6-hour intervals<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In <strong>severely immunocompromised<\/strong> patients, or where there is <strong>impaired absorption<\/strong>, the dose may be <strong>doubled to 400 mg<\/strong>, or
